I had been concerned about the impact of climate change for many years. While working as a crisis and emergency management advisor, I decided to write a book called Climate Crisis Plan. The purpose of the book and this website is to provide information and resources that will empower and encourage people all over the world to take action on climate change. So that one day soon, there will be an overwhelming momentum for emissions reductions.
There are many guides listed below on how to reduce emissions and create positive system change which can be downloaded for free. More content will be added frequently and I will give examples of where I have taken action myself, had setbacks and successes. Best wishes,
Philip Kent-Hughes
In 1990, the international community agreed to take action on climate change, but emissions have continued to go up. For over thirty years industry and politicians have failed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We should not wait for permission, and we should not wait for industry or governments anymore. We can take a new direction and create our own positive future. We can do this through our own actions and creating system change.

There are many ways we can reduce our own emissions or contribute to system change. These are included in the sections below. For each section you can click on the link for all the resources. These will updated and added to on a regular basis.
We can use current systems and change them from within. Many of the decisions we make every day can add-up to create system change. There are many opportunities from changing the products and services we buy, review who we vote for, looking at options for who we work for, as well as and spreading positive ideas.
There are many ways we can reduce our emissions and some simple planning can make it easier. This includes getting your household or other people together to create an emissions reduction objective. There is a free workbook that contains guides and planning tools to help you achieve success.
This includes reducing your carbon footprint by reviewing food lifestyle options and ways to reduce food waste. We can start positive conversations about food, spread the word, and look at community groups. There are also actions to influence government, food manufacturers and retailers.
This describes what a circular economy is and what the benefits are for everyone. We can find out more about reducing consumption, refusing unnecessary packaging, reusing, repairing and recycling. There are also options to communicate with brands and service providers.
What are the different options and how to go about switching to renewable energy. There are options for reducing your emissions and your energy bill at the same time. There will be options for encouraging energy providers, stopping new coal and other actions as well.
There are many ways to reduce emissions from personal transport and changing the way we travel. We will be communicating to manufacturers, and operators of land, sea, and air travel.
There are several ways you can find community while taking action on climate change. There are a range of local and international groups who have lots of opportunities for you to get involved. There are groups who take action through protest, habitat restoration such and reafforestation, coastal and river clean-up initiatives, community gardening, and many more.

International annual event are occasions to put a spotlight on issues of concern, spread awareness, as well as mobilizing political change and resources to fix global problems. You can join in at any time and subscribe for monthly updates.
October 13th - International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction
The theme for this year highlights the connection between disasters and inequality. Disasters and inequality are two sides of the same coin. Each adversity reinforces the other: unequal access to services leaves the most vulnerable exposed to the danger of disasters; while the effects of disasters exacerbate inequalities and push the most at risk further into poverty.
About 75% of extreme weather events are currently connected to climate change, fueled by carbon emissions (Climate Adaptation Platform, 2022). By 2030, with current climate projections, the world will face some 560 disasters per year (UNDRR, 2022)

In this hands-on, encouraging book, Kent-Hughes describes how individuals and organizations can take action to make meaningful progress toward solving the climate crisis. He starts by outlining the severity of the problem, but he doesn’t dwell on doom— instead he offers positive examples showing that when people take action, real change can occur.
When it comes to solutions, Kent-Hughes offers suggestions that are achievable for most people, which is important in an overtaxing world where everyone is already overwhelmed.
Sections detailing what he personally has done to change his lifestyle demonstrate that making a difference doesn’t require perfection or grand gestures. Takeaway: An encouraging action plan for individuals and organizations in the face of the climate crisis.
